Yellowstone National Park

http://qrudestudio.com/tag/digital-photography-courses-online/ Sorry for the delay in updating the blog. Yellowstone is in a bit of a black hole when it comes to WiFi. We have safely arrived in Shelby MT, and now have the opportunity to bring everyone up to date.

The first stop after entering the park was (of course) along side of the road to get to the snow. Of course snow balls were thrown, and a quick fall in the snow by Christian reveled that the snow as both cold and WET! The weather was in the high 60’s there was however snow in any of the areas where the sun did not shine.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I was afraid the sites at the Fishing Bridge RV Campsite would be small, but as you can see they were just fine. A full hookup water/electric 50 amp/sewer. In very short order we were set up and ready to go for the next 4 full days in the park.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We had noticed that as we drove past Old Faithful Geyser on our way into the park, that by 1:00 pm the parking lot was full, so the first order of business on our first full day was a quick breakfast and off the the Geyser.  We arrived in plenty of time to get a good spot, but the question of the day was……….will Old Faithful erupt while we were there.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Luckily we got excellent seats in the front row, with a great view of the geyser. Now all we had to do was wait……..and in less than 45 minutes;

Off she went! A remarkable sight. Our first day was off to a splendid start.

Two stunning geothermal sites.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Remarkable wild life. It was indeed an amazing place.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I learned how to fly fish as you can see, within just hours. However it is a very expensive hobby    to dedicate yourself too. It also takes LOTS of practice to actually catch a fishy. But all in all it is a very fun and exciting sport, if your willing to dedicate yourself to it.           😛   bye    🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Why does it take a photo for me to know how evil Papa is! I have no clue. Anyway, we had lots of fun in Yellowstone. We went to Old Faithful and Angel Falls. One thing that seemed, and pretty much was, impossible was the fact that, despite the 60’ish degree temperature,  there were STIll random piles of SNOW?! HOW?! WHY CAN’T THIS HAPPEN IN FLORIDA?! WILL CHRISTIAN EVER LEARN TO USE PROPER GRAMMAR?! The world may never know! XD That was pretty much all we did though. WAIT!!! I almost forgot… CHRISTIAN AND I HAD A SNOWBALL FIGHT WITH SOME RANDOM KIDS!! 😀

That’s all we did in Yellowstone, but thank you for your time!

P.S. Mom, hope you like the postcards!

Were not sure how well we will be able to keep up with the blog in Canada, we will however post whenever we can. Our love to everyone, the boys, Peggy and I are having the time of our lives. What a trip!

A wonderful time in Zion

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Started our day with a trip to Zion National Park. To say the least, it was stunning! Weather is warm and dry, and we arrived at the park early enough to get a parking spot! According to the Rangers, Zion is the most visited National Park in the nation. Luckily we beat the crowds with an early arrival.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Stunning views wherever you looked.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Even from the roads, it looks incredible.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Back at the camp site the boys and I park at the trail head leading to “Observation Point”. Were packed with MRE’s and plenty of water for the 6 mile hike.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hiking the trail, the views were fantastic, even though (at times) the trail ran a little close to the cliff edge!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Finally, Observation Point! Both boys did great on the long hike out. The point is a narrow peninsula with views off of every edge. VERY high and extremely nerve racking with the boys. But they both stayed safely clear of the edge, and in a short time my blood pressure returned to normal.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

View of the valley from Observation Point.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fare warning if you EVER ask me to go on a 6 mile backpacking hike with you, you have clearly gone insane. I mean that you have gone crazy. I am a Triathlete, i play Basket ball, Baseball, and soon Football but this is definitely the hardest thing that i have ever done in my life.       😛 bye     🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Why Papa? Why would you make me do this, then not let me eat my foods? Oh well. “It’s in the past. The past can’t hurt us.” (Dat one’s for you, Allen. =^.^=) Five and a half hours later, when we got back, we got about, maybe, 3 minutes to rest. Then, we went to get burgers. After dat, Christian and I went ZIP LINING!!! =^.^= And dat’s where I tell you about this day. =^.^=

Thanks for your time!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Finally! Back at the trail head, all three boys with butts dragging but none the worse for wear. They did great and are proud of their accomplishment! I think they should be.

Howdy! From Page Arizona

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The view behind our motor home is stunning! Miles and Miles of nothing but miles and miles. Stunning sunsets and cool crisp mornings. The elevation here is somewhere in the vicinity of 5000ft. We arrived in Page from the Grand Canyon without mishap and had a great time climbing the walls and hiking the trails. The purpose of the stop at Page was to raft in the Colorado river. We woke up early at 0530 and arrived at the Lake Powell dam by 0700. The canyons walls were just beginning to be gently caressed by a rising sun. It was stunning! I tell you this in the narrative of this blog because I failed to put the CARD INTO MY $%^#$%!@#$%! CAMERA! It ACTS like its taking a picture, even shows you what it took, then in very small print on the screen says “NO CARD”, and forgets it took a picture. You will have to believe me that is was a fantastic trip, and if I fail to put the card back into my camera again, Peggy has advised me that we will do whatever endeavor we failed to photograph all over again regardless of cost and to hell with my agenda!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The boys with their walking stick after a great hike through the desert! The elevation catches up to you real fast, the boys however did great. Me………..lets just say I kept up.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This picture will have to do for my blog today! Papa did not get any pictures on the river! =^.^= It was very funny and a bit sad too because papa didn’t get any pictures of me in the colorado river which was 42 degrees. Believe it or not I went all the way into the colorado river and it was COLD. Every time I went into the river my feet blood veins would actually constrict so bad that several times it actually caused physically pain.        😛    bye        🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello mah peopleses. This is Mr. McDeadleg here. Today was a very bipolar day. (Heat-wise.) We went into the Grand Canyon!!! =^.^= Anyway, even though the Canyon was about 80 something degree’s, the water was FREAKING 42! But the Lemonade (that just HAD to be refrigerated IN the river… -<) made up for it. When we got back, we went to the AWESOME pool.

That’s about all we did today, so I’ll just try to keep you updated. BAIIIIIIIIII!

(P.S. I am always a grammer freaking NAZI, but I likes to play around.)

Meteor Crater and the Grand Canyon in one day

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We got an early start out of Holbrook AZ and made it to Meteor Crater by early morning. The wind was really howling and the escorted tours of the canyon were unavailable. We were however allowed to view the crater from the safety of the guard railed areas and it was a great visit.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is an example of how windy it was. Christian is leaning into the wind and it is holding him in place! As you can see, all ball caps had to be held in our hands.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hilo as you can see, today we went to meteor crater. The item you see in front of me is a fragment of the meteorite that caused the crater. That meteorite has micro diamonds, gold silver, nickel, and iron. It weighs a shocking 1400 pounds. also it wasn’t until the 1950’s and 60’s that the crater was proven to be a impact crater. But it is not the biggest. the biggest is in south africa and it is 185 miles across.             😛  bye  🙂

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Arrived at the Grand Canyon a little after noon and went on into the park. The day was beautiful, slightly windy, but in the mid 70’s. Great hiking weather.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Stunning view of the Canyon!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello peoples, Mr. Right here. (Look at the picture.) Today, we went to METEOR CRATER!!! 🙂 We looked in, got some pictures, Mr. Left got a bottle of silver (We both got a meteorite piece :), and left to the GRAND CANYON!! 🙂 It was fun, amazing, and HIGH AS POOP. We left soon after because Mrs. Middle’s knee started hurting. I got a bronze coin as a knick- knack.

Dat’s about all we did today, I’ll keep you informed on our trip any chance I get. BAIIIIIIIIIIII.

On the road in Arizona

DSCI0052

On the road again and in Arizona! The wind is gusting in excess of 50 MPH out here.  When I asked if this was normal one person responded that is was, and the other person stated that it was brutal.  As they were both from the local area, I assume the truth is somewhere in the middle or approximately 25 MPH. The final resolution to the toppers was to take them off and the RV place will store them until our return to Albuquerque. This turned out to be a wise choice as we saw 4 different motorhomes along the side of the road with their toppers torn off and flying in the wind!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Peggy and Debbie ( my brother Brian’s wife) having a great time at the cook out in Albuquerque in Brian’s backyard. We had a great time.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

GIRLS! Peggy got to hold two beautiful baby girls. Stephanie’s babies were so sweet and unlike our 4 grandsons they didn’t hit, kick, spit or bite! I was not allowed to hold them as I am no longer certified to properly hold baby girls.

DSCI0031

Today me, memaw, and aunt Carol who brought us, went to a baseball game. The teams that played were the isotopes vs zephyrs we didn’t stay long enough to see who won, however both teams broke about 5 bats in total. It was hilarious. When we left, the game score was 3-3.     😛

DSCI0008

My goodness… Is the strain on my legs visible on my face? All I remember about this is that my legs just wanted to die. Well, at least the camper didn’t die. That’s good. We went to the petrified (Which means “turned to stone”) forest today, and then came to the KOA. Tomorrow, we’re going to Meteor Crater and… (dun dun dunnnnnnnnnkin doughnuts) … THE GRAND CANYON!!!

Not much more to say, so I’ll just keep you updated. Thanks for your time!

P.S. Momma, check your mail…

Busted flat in ABQ

I’ve given it a lot of thought. Sharing the fun, the great pictures the wonderful times is easy.  But……when you put your house on wheels and shake the shit out of it, something is going to go wrong. Would I be doing anyone of the 4 people reading this blog a favor by not sharing all of it. I’ve come to the conclusion that the answer is a resounding NO, share it all! Be both honest with yourself and others. Soooooo here it goes. Everything in Albuquerque was wonderful, Mom is doing great, my brothers and sisters are all well and we had a wonderful time. Thanks to everyone. My brother Brian cooked up a feast and most of the family was there to enjoy it. After the festivities concluded, we dropped Mom/Grandma off at her house and went to the KOA to get the motorhome ready for the trip the next day.  Off to the Grand Canyon! Or so we thought.  As I was draining the tanks (YUCKY JOB) I noticed that the topper over the living room had come off! Holy crap! This is a awning that covers the slider to keep leaves and water off the expanded part of the motorhome. What to do? I broke out the ladder climbed to the top and adjusted the broken part in a way that would allow me to take the motorhome to a dealer for repair. The next morning off to Mayers Camper and RV and they helpfully put the topper back on. By 2:00 we were back on the road. THEN at 3:00, or just west of Los Lunas (for those of you familiar with the area) both Peggy and I heard a LOUD flapping coming from the top of the camper. A look out and up reveled the canopy of the topper flapping in the wind. A quick stop along the side of the road, two ratchet straps and some Gorilla duct tape and all was secure. We called the RV dealer and BACK to Albuquerque we went. We arrived in Albuquerque at 4:00 and the dealer advised that a spring had broken inside the cover and they could overnight it in the morning, meaning Thursday would be the soonest we could depart. Luckily the KOA had room for us and we slide into spot 93 for an undetermined stay. Hooked up electric, cable, left the living room wing in place, remember, two ratchet straps and Gorilla duct tape are now holding it in place. There was, however no reason to not slide out the bedroom slide to allow Peggy and I a comfortable stay while waiting for the parts. Sooooooo out goes the bedroom slider and then we heard a load POP! Going outside to see what had happened and I see the bedroom topper torn off the slider and sitting on top!

I need an old Priest and a young Priest. I need black salt, holy water, a Native American Shaman, black candles, sage smoke, a Medium and ANYTHING else you can think of! The boys are having a great time……its all an adventure. Me? I need another drink, Oh, and did Peggy really bring valium for her dog? I wonder where she put it?

Hello everyone, this is Sebastian! Today, we tried to leave the KOA. The fail was miserable. We got maybe 50 miles out of Albuquerque, and we broke down. UGH. :(. Anyway, we had to… (SUSPENSE… not really) cancel the petrified forest today. :'(. Although, we should be outta here by Thursday, I’m still having fun…indeed. I will keep ya’ll posted and the rest of my adventure.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Looks like I’m not the only thing HOT in Albuquerque!  Today were are at my uncle Brians house  and as you can see i am cooking  fat hot dogs and normal hot dogs and man were they good. also i saw baby Koi’s and grown kois , i also got to feed them and it was awesome.

Meeting up with family in Amarillo

DSCI0003

We met up with Peggy’s sister and brother-in-law Glenn and Libby Jones in Amarillo. Glynn is in Texas working (Why? We don’t know!) And Libby was out for a brief visit. Had a wonderful time getting caught up on kids and grandkids and places we have been and hoped to go. Thanks to Glynn for finding a GREAT Mexican restaurant and should we pass the way again on our return, the meal will be on us!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Christian and Sebastian flew over Palo Duro canyon on the zip line! They both thought the ride was great, and wished it could have lasted longer!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here comes Christian!

Sebastian at the Cadillac ranch putting gang graffiti (SW) on one of the cars.  This is me! I’m back! 🙂 Anyway, today was extremally fun! First, we went to a place called “Cadillac Ranch.” We used paint to draw and stuff on the Cadillacs. Then, we went to an RV museum. That was awesome. After that, when we got back, SOME of us (*cough   cough*Me and Memaw *cough cough*) went swimming. That pretty much concludes my day. Thanks for your time!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello everyone from Christian! In our adventure in Texas we saw the Palo Duro canyon, cadillac ranch, a museum of old campers and motorcycles. when we went to Palo Duro canyon, we didn’t go down as far as they wished but we did get to go and we saw two lizards. We saw a blue runner and a mystery lizard who let papa get some very nice pictures of him. :p

Hello from Amarillo

Snake Crossing

Spent the night outside of Hattisburg MS and had to wait for the snake to cross the road! Quite a large fellow, Christian thinks it was a bull snake.

DSCI0021

The next night found us at a lovely campground in Longview Texas.  Great pool and after driving through some heavy rains, the weather was cool. Unexpected lovely evening.

DSCI0020

Hello people. This is Sebastian speaking. Right, as of now, we are in Amarillo (Yellow in Spanish XD) Texas. Today, we went zip lining. Guess where. Did you actually guess? Regardless, ’twas over Paulo Duro canyon (much to my fear). I was terrified because not only was it about 800 feet deep, but I nearly couldn’t hold on to the thing connected to the wire. (I didn’t realize that the harness could hold me.) After that, we went INTO the canyon. About .3 miles in, we found the flint gold mine! We also found, what we call for fun, a FLINT MONSTER!

That’s about all I can say. Talk to y’all later!

DSCI0019

Hello everyone, this is Christian! we’re in longview Texas. The ride today was really scary! The road was bumpy and while I was TRYING to play Fallout New Vegas on the PS3, I was flying halfway up to the roof and kept loosing to a Death Claw (monster in the game)! Bouncing off the ceiling and then landing on the bed makes for lousy game playing. I will try to write when I can or when Memaw makes me :p

Alaska or Bust; Day 1

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Arrived at the boys house greeted by the boy’s and a “Alaska or Bust” sign. Our thanks to Kelley for letting us take Christian and Sebastian.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pulled the motorhome out of the hanger at 0845 on our first day of the trip!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Off we go waving goodbye to Leanne, Wayne and Wyatt! You guys have a great summer, see you in the fall!!

First stop is Big Oak RV campground in Tallahassee FL. No kidding “Big Oak”!
